In his first group show of 2018 artist Philipp Humm will be exhibiting a selection of six oil and gouache paintings with Saphira and Ventura Gallery at 23 Warren street, New York, NY 10007 on May 3 to 9 in a show entitled The Dream World. The show is curated by Alcinda Saphira. In a show that explores notions of dreams, reality and utopias Humm’s six works analyse societies perceived notions of perfection and beauty in art, taking inspiration from the Renaissance art in Indoctrinated and looking at modern advertising in his work Promises. In a truly personal piece Humm’s Virtuoso Apprentices set the scene for the artist’s dream life-drawing class, in which he would sit amongst some of the world’s master artists, including Andy Warhol, Damien Hirst and Jeff Koons.
